The Athletics Kenya National World Under-20 trials entered its second day today at the Kasarani Stadium.
The action started with the Local Organising Committee testing for Covid-19 all journalists covering the event.
Kenya is set to host the World Athletics event from August 17-22 in Nairobi, where 128 countries will take part. This will be the first in the African continent and will be held at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
In today’s highlight Keringet’s Maurine Cherotich won the 5,000m final in 15:44.26 as Margaret Gati of Nyanza South won the women’s 10km walk finals as Jecinta Mutheu of Eastern finished second.
The action comes to an end tomorrow with the TEAM Kenya squad being named.
Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta toured the World Athletics Under 20 offices in Kasarani, and expressed satisfaction with preparations. Nairobi has played host to several events already, in the packed 2021 sporting year.
