The Kenyan soccer fraternity has been thrown into mourning after Kakamega Homeboys Football Club announced the death of its midfielder Silas Abungana.

Reports say Abungana died after being viciously attacked by his younger brother following a family dispute.

According to the Western Kenya based club, the 10-game league regular who sustained head injuries during the Tuesday night altercation was rushed to the Kakamega General Hospital and succumbed to his injuries hours later while undergoing treatment.

The former Shabana FC defender played the full 90 mins against Mara Sugar FC on Saturday. He had previously featured as a defender for Shabana Football Club and Gucha Stars.

Local Kenya Premier League clubs have been sending their messages of condolence to the family.

Gor Mahia FC and the entire K’Ogalo fraternity penned their heartfelt condolences to Kakamega Homeboyz FC and the family and prayed for strength, peace, and comfort for his loved ones during this difficult time.
