Eldoret has been conferred city status becoming the 5th city in Kenya.
Located in Uasin Gishu county, Eldoret has been hailed as the city of athletics champions for being home to the country’s athletes.
It also boasts of 2 public universities, 53 health facilities, and an international airport among other public installations.
Eldoret becomes the 5th city after Nakuru was conferred city status in 2021.
The two now join Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi as Kenya’s cities.
President William Ruto has pledged his government’s commitment to ensure that Eldoret city lives up to its reputation as the city of champions.
