Over 177 bright and needy students across the country can now pursue their academic goals without the fear of blocked out of class due to disability, medical and financial challenges.

This is after the NCBA bank committed over KES 13M in form of school fees through nine partner organizations, reinforcing its focus on youth employment and inclusive education.

“At NCBA, we have invested in education scholarships of over KES 100 million for the last 19 years and now impact 177 students annually.” James Ndegwa, NCBA Group Chairman

The initiative forms part of NCBA’s sustainability commitment to invest KSH 100M annually in community development across the region.

“In every classroom, lecture hall, and community, belief is the spark that turns potential into achievement.” John Gachora, NCBA Group Managing Director.

The event also marked the announcement of a partnership with the Crystal Asige Foundation, founded by nominated senator Crystal Asige, to support learners facing disability, medical and financial challenges.

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony at the Museum of Illusions in Nairobi, Senator Asige stated that the right to education remains a key pillar in the realization of the country’s development agenda, and denying students the right to education amounts to injustice

“Education is not charity. It is justice. It’s how we reclaim our potential. Through NCBA bank, we’re opening doors for students to see their potential flourish and reach their future. Remember: the only limits are the ones you place on yourself,” Senator Asige said.

“Today, we not only recognize academic excellence but also reaffirm our ‘Change The Story’ commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders,” said Ndegwa.

Beneficiaries of the scholarship have termed the initiative as life changing. While pointing to their pre-scholarship days, which they said was characterized by struggle and uncertainty for the future.
