President William Ruto last evening sacked his entire cabinet and said he will announce further reform measures in his administration. In a televised address to the nation, the president said he made the decision following  a wholistic appraisal of their performance.
The Cabinet Secretaries had been in office for close to two years, with the latest anti government protests led by Gen Z consistently taking issue with some of them for being arrogant, entitled, incompetent and displaying conspicuous consumption through their material possessions, and contributing huge amounts to fundraising events. All eyes are now on all the 51 principal secretaries and parastatal chiefs who are likely to be affected by the sweeping reforms. The president announced that the PS and other relevant government officials will run the affairs of the government to ensure seamless operations in the respective ministries until a new cabinet is named. The president  in the purge spared his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and the prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi to coordinate the principal secretaries to ensure continuity in government.
