West Pokot and Turkana leaders have embarked on a peace building mission to quell down the rising tension along the County borders with neighbouring communities.
This comes when there is a war of words between leaders from West Pokot and Turkana counties over the boundary row and the grazing patterns, a situation that has resulted into loss of lives and animals along the West Pokot and Turkana counties border specifically along Kainuk in Turkana and Lami Nyeusi in West Pokot.
Yesterday, Sigor member of Parliament in West Pokot Peter Lochakapong and his Turkana South counterpart John Ariko, attended a peace meeting at Lami Nyeusi, bringing together the two warring communities of Pokot and Turkana.
The two lawmakers shook hands in public, ending their long time “differences” and urging their people to live in Peace and harmony.
On his part, Turkana South MP John Ariko called on his people from Turkana County to move with speed and restore peace in hotspot areas, urging security apparatus manning the area to call out bandits by names and not by communities.
Currently parts of Ombolion, Lami Nyeusi,Amolem and Cheptule are still witnessing insecurity cases despite the presence of security officers deployed in the areas.
