The World Health Organization WHO has affirmed that it is helping governments affected by the MPOX virus including Kenya to scale up the response to interrupt disease transmission.
WHO boss Dr Tedros Adhanom says he is considering convening an International Health Regulations Emergency Committee to advise on whether the outbreak of Mpox should be declared a public health emergency of international concern .
This comes as the Mpox reported in Kenya is said to have been caused by a deadly strain that was previously only seen in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The strain whose test results show is the deadliest seen so far, has now spread to multiple African countries.
The Ministry of Health says the Kenyan case was reported on July 29, in a truck driver who traveled to Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.
