The Ministry of Education says successful candidates who have been admitted to national and extra county schools will get their letters of admission digitally in an effort to improve transparency in the process.
Speaking on Tuesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i stated that receipt of admission letters by candidates and their parents shall be instantaneous.
“Because of the complaints that used to come from various parents, we were directed by the Office of the President to begin an electronic form of availing letters to the Form 1 students,” he said.
“This year I am very happy to state that we have done it. Candidates do not have to come to your school and wake you up at night because they can go online and get their admission letters. They can go to www.education.go.ke,” he stated.
He further indicated that the letter, alongside a candidate’s birth certificate, will further be authenticated by the head teacher of the admitting secondary school.
“From there they can download their letters of admission to the schools. Parents can text their candidates or students index number to this short code 20042 and they will know their children have been selected and they can print the letters.”
