Uasin Gishu Gorvenor Jackson Mandago has declared a ban on shaking of hands and hugging among locals in the county. This follows confirmation of the first case of Coronavirus in the country. Addressing a media briefing in Eldoret, Mandago also directed that every local must wash their hands with a sanitizer after everyone hour. He also asked members of the public to take seriously all the precautionary measures that the government has advised through the Ministry of Agriculture.
Mandago further revealed that as a county, they have identified one Hospital that will be used as an isolation centre should a case of the virus be reported in the area. Already, the Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital has another isolation centre that was built by the government.
Meanwhile, Taita Taveta County has began to distribute hand sanitizers to all departments, county offices and public places across the county. This is to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 that has been confirmed in the country. Surveillance has been heightened as screening across all points of entry intensifies.
